GORGEOUS AND RARE silk floral evening dress from the early 1960s. This dress features a beautifully draped bodice, a fitted waistline, and a bubble hem style skirt. Shown with no extra petticoats. This is how it sits on it's own.
Here's a quick little history on the Bubble Skirt:
"The bubble silhouette was something of a fad in the late 1950s. Both Pierre Cardin and Hubert Givenchy had already experimented with the inflated silhouette, in 1954 and 1956 respectively. By the late '50s, it had become a popular choice for evening, cocktail and prom wear. In 1958, the New York Times called the bubble skirt "one of the prettiest dance fashions for evening, " especially when paired with sheer stockings and evening gloves."
