really good Vietnam Souvenir jacket with a special bonus of having Liberty Cuffs. This one is for
Bien-Hoa Vietnam 1966-67. Bien-Hoe is known for having
one of the "worst disasters in Air Force history" a year prior (1965).
On the 16th May 1965, while waiting to take off, a B-57 exploded on the ground at Biên Hòa Air Base. Due to the operational tempo, the aircraft and the ammunition had been stored too close together, allowing the fires and explosions to propagate between aircraft and their prepositioned bombs.
The explosions destroyed 10 B-57s, two A-1Es and the Navy F-8, killed 28 Americans and six Vietnamese and wounded more than 100 more and damaged 25 RVNAF A-1s.
